The Lead Engineer / Technologist will provide technical direction and assistance within Transportation applications in order to meet assigned objectives. In this role you will work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action, via long & short-term planning.
In addition, you will:
  • Provide strong oral and written communication skills, as well as work in teams while demonstrating leadership & accountability
  • Execute, analysis, design, test, or integration required to define and support assigned areas that meet business commitments
  • Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers
  • Document and communicate results of technical data generated consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Perform mechanical design of enclosures / cabinets for high power electronics - with or without integrated cooling
  • Perform analysis on ventilation airflow and component cooling (Computational Fluid Dynamics)
  • Lead the validation of new components and subassemblies, author & release of drawings and specifications
  • Generate engineering documents (DFMEA, Design Review materials, Purchase Specs, meeting notes, technical visuals and presentations, etc.)
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with general mechanical structural & thermal design principles and associated engineering performance evaluations
  • GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with general mechanical structural & thermal design principles and associated engineering performance evaluations
  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with focus on structural or thermal design
  • Deep experience in mechanical packaging for electronics & load dissipation grids
  • Prior work in high voltage, current and power applications, and energy dissipation
  • Working knowledge of structural Finite Element Analysis (FEA) & interpretation of results
  • Working knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) -based thermal management
  • Exposure to functional testing for air, water or conductive cooling; Working knowledge of heat sink design and development
