SENIOR MANAGER COMPLIANCE & OPERATIONS MANAGER – ISLAMIC BANKING

The Position:

Reporting to the Unit Head, Islamic Banking, and this position will be responsible for continuous review of compliance and drive to attain excellence in operations processes and policies in Islamic Banking unit. It is expected to ensure high quality and standardised service is offered across Islamic Banking unit.

Key Responsibilities

•To enhance Operational Standards in order to improve service delivery in Islamic Banking Unit branches through ensuring strict adherence to laid down procedures.
•To provide quality assurance in customer service delivery efficiency by ensuring that tasks are being performed in correct and resource saving way as per set targets/standards and Service Level Agreements in Islamic Banking Unit branches.
•To put in place valuable mechanism for testing controls and an effective monitoring and real time identification of control breakdowns.
•Continuous testing of transactional data against expected limits and parameters through automated exceptions and reporting in Islamic Banking Unit branches.
•To ensure integrity in reconciliation of the General Ledger accounts and timely resolution of items booked in suspense accounts in Islamic Banking Unit branches.
•To review and identify events in Islamic Banking Unit branches and put in place appropriate process controls to address root causes.
•Review and drive measures to obtain cost efficiency and optimization through automation and process improvement and to continuously evaluate performance of the processes already in place and recommend/initiate appropriate process changes to obtain efficiency and mitigate risks in  Islamic Banking Unit branches
•To lead, develop and help staff to grow in operational skills and other process relevant competences enabling individuals to make a difference and create a winning team
•To drive timely resolution of Operational Risks highlighted by Audit and Risk Management teams
•To undertake regular self-audits and risk assessment in the service delivery processes in Islamic Banking Unit branches in order to proactively develop suitable mitigating controls

The Person

•A university degree in a Business related area. Possession of a post graduate degree or professional qualification in a related field will be an added advantage
•At least 3 years general banking experience, with Sound knowledge of banking business and Islamic Banking operations.
•2 years’ experience in Credit analysis or administration.
•Experience in Customer service/Relationship Management.
•Experience in cash management, Credit Operations and Clearing
•Demonstrated consistent high performance in role(s) held in the last three years
•Experience in handling Islamic products.
•Excellent interpersonal, and negotiation skills with the ability to network and generate new business
•Excellent sales and client relationship skills.

Role Summary/Purpose

The VP, Project Development Finance will report to the MD, Africa Investments - SSA and will be responsible for project development financing and investment Initiatives across the SSA region. She/he will focus on GE direct investments, develop regional processes for underwriting and manage post investment oversight.

Essential Responsibilities  

• Focus on long cycle GE direct investments – Project development and long term capital in infrastructure projects
• Investment memo preparation, financial modeling, due diligence, underwriting and structuring
• Lead or support deal team process with SPF, Project Development, P&Ls & internal function leads
• Develop regional processes for underwriting and funding: develop template financial models, due diligence tools etc.
• Post-investment oversight on select transactions (portfolio management, reporting, GE board participation) in coordination SPF Risk team
• Help drive equity exit and syndication process on GE direct investments
• Coordinate with external co-investors: private equity and infrastructure funds etc.
• Develop and maintain reporting requirements and coordinate with project development team and finance functions

Qualifications/Requirements

• Project development, project financing, investment banking background.
• Development Finance Institution experience is a plus
• Demonstrated closed transactions
• Deep financial modeling acumen (must).
• Developed market experience
• Emerging markets and Africa experience
• Strong network with project finance, private equity, and financial services community in Africa and globally
