As
a key member of the Power Conversion Legal Team, the
successful candidate will be responsible for supporting Power
Conversion’s intellectual property needs.
Key responsibilities include :
Develop, implement and manage Power Conversion’s IP strategy
Counsel business on protecting IP assets
Manage international patent prosecution
Manage budget related to patent portfolio
Draft, review and help negotiate agreements
Support technology transfer and joint development activities/agreements to ensure Power Conversion’s IP is properly protected
Work with counsel in Power Conversion and other GE businesses to develop best practices and strategic advice
Keep abreast of legal developments in pertinent countries for the business
Train the business teams on IP issues
Juris Doctor degree or equivalent from Europe
10 years plus relevant experience, preferably with at least 5 years at a law firm
Extensive knowledge of laws, rules, regulations and
practice in major national and regional patent systems, treaties and
conventions
International patent experience desirable
Strong team player – collaborates well with others to
solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources; has
experience working with others on a global basis
Demonstrated legal problem solving and analytical
skills and ability to understand, articulate and persuade on
significant legal and business issues, especially under pressure
A strong commitment to integrity and professionalism
Candidate must be highly organized, computer
literate, a self-starter, and good at managing and prioritizing
numerous projects to meet demanding deadlines
Excellent communication and presentation skills; strong
ability to influence stakeholders and build trust with customers,
leaders and team members
Fluency and ability to draft and negotiate legal documents in English
Ability and willingness to travel
Experience of managing budgets relating to patent prosecution
