Fondazione Brodolini is a research institute on labour and social policies. Fondazione's Management Board is composed of prominent figures from Italian universities, official members of the three national confederate trade unions and private companies. Fondazione Brodolini provides technical assistance to the European Commission, Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs & Inclusion and is the Italian member of the European Employment Observatory (EEO). Fondazione publishes 'Economia & Lavoro', quarterly journal on labour economics. It coordinates the ENEGE network on gender equality set up by the Directorate-General for Justice. The network produces analyses and recommendations for the 27 Member States and for the three EEA/EFTA States and is composed of 33 independent academic experts with longstanding experience of research in the field of equal opportunities, employment and social inclusion. Fondazione is providing a need assessment study for the Ministry of European Funds on the new Structural Funds period in Romania. It carries out regularly surveys, studies and evaluations with a quantitative approach.
Fondazione Brodolini intends to appoint a full time research assistant on labour market in Bucharest.
Responsibilities:
(1) Assisting project coordinators in the implementation of Fondazione Brodolini EU-funded research and technical assistance projects on:
- labour market/ employment
- evaluation of public policies
(2) Supporting Fondazione Brodolini staff in survey data collection processes and data management
(3) Assisting in drafting reports and notes that will be published at the national and EU level
Essential qualifications and skills:
- Advanced university degree in statistics or economics
- Fluency in Romanian and English
- Quantitative research skills
- Focus on applied research
- Knowledge of statistical software packages (the proficient use of STATA or MATLAB is required)
- Strong ability to work under pressure and with tight deadlines
- Well organised, able to work independently as part of a small team
Desirable qualifications and skills:
- Having a PhD
- Knowledge of Italian and/or French
- Previous professional experience in labour market/employment policy evaluation
- Previous professional experience in applied macroeconomics and DSGE models
- Familiarity with the use of cross-sectional EU surveys (EU-SILC, EU-LFS, etc.)
- Experience of designing and coordinating processes of survey data collection
- Familiarity with the use of E-Views
Contract duration: 6 months (renewable)
Job location: Bucharest; mobility will be required to our different offices, induction period in Rome.
