This role will report directly to the Audit Committee and CEO in monitoring and developing the effectiveness of internal controls and risk management tools; whilst also assessing new systems and procedures to enhance internal practices and guidelines across the front to back office platforms.

This is a unique and challenging opportunity to join a leading and pre-eminent commercial banking operation in the Kingdom of Bahrain, whose positioning within the GCC market is known for excellence and transparency and has coverage areas within retail, corporate and wholesale operations.
With a history and heritage, this institution will look for high calibre and stable candidates to join their Senior Management Team.
As part of this role, you will:

• Be responsible for the coordination of all global audit activities with the responsibility for the results in terms of methods and employees.
• Establish relationships with Senior Management at all levels showing the ability to add value wherever possible.
• Manage operational and financial audits.
• Assist members of the Corporate Assurance Team in the formulation of audit opinions and the editing of audit reports.
• Advise management, as required, regarding the implementation of audit recommendations.
• Be responsible for preventing erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals to ensure that additional costs, personnel issues and serious delays are avoided and reduce any impact on overall business activities.
• Provide guidance to Auditors to achieve goals in accordance with established policies.
• Establish and recommend changes to policies which affect the company.
• Develop and administer budgets, schedules, and performance requirements.
• Be responsible for the growth and development of the audit function.
• Appraise the BoD, the Audit Committee of the BoD and Senior Management about the assessment of the internal control environment, significant audit findings, new regulations and status of implementing the key audit recommendations.
• Strive to achieve overall excellence in operating standards and customer satisfaction by providing value added advice on various aspects of the bank’s policies, business and operations.

The successful candidate should be a well rounded and seasoned Financial Services Audit professional with strong experience of internal audit and controls within the banking sectors. You should be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of both banking products and operations whilst being aligned to the international standards and compliance linked to the control framework.
Our client will look for excellence across presentation and communication skills; as this Senior Management role will require a candidate who can support and influence decisions and policies.
You should be professionally qualified Internal Auditor (CIA) with relevant Chartered Accountancy qualifications (CPA, ACA, or ACCA) gained from a Big 4 background. You should have a minimum of five years post qualified experience within a multinational or large local bank as a Head of Audit.  You should be able to demonstrate strong analytical skills, have the ability to meet strict deadlines and have experience of leading and developing Internal Audit Teams / functions.
