GE Healthcare (GEHC) is expanding their Cloud organization responsible for automating, templating, and pricing of infrastructure services. The Cloud Virtualization Architect will join a strong group of technologists to help evolve and expand the Cloud environment. This role is responsible for providing cloud service development, advanced troubleshooting, architectural design, and management of overall health of services running the Cloud virtual infrastructure.
The position is a career growth opportunity that provides mentorship by senior technical staff and peer collaboration. Cloud computing is a rapidly changing landscape that requires team members to be open to change, use leading edge technologies and practices, as well as utilities their own creative invention.
• Design, manage and operate services running in the Cloud
• Creating documentation that includes Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Testing and validating solution in lab environments
• Optimizing Cloud infrastructure by recommending upgrades, monitoring performance, and auditing system tasks
• Providing leadership by mentoring other technical team members
• Implementing vendor best practices within customer environment
• Creation and ownership of qualification document templates
• Review and approval of all quality related documentation
• Mentoring customer architecture teams
• Advanced troubleshooting and monitoring of service systems to ensure adequate service level agreements (SLAs), capacity and expansion requirements
• A Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent experience is required
• VMware Certified Professional or equivalent working experience
• Three years IT experience
• Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, complex technical projects
• Windows: working knowledge of Windows 2008R2 and higher. Understand share and NTFS security concepts
• Unix: working knowledge of Red Hat and SUSE Linux including NFS and networking
• Storage: knowledge of concepts of file systems, disk partitions, mounts, and sizing
• Expert knowledge of VMware virtualization
• Expert knowledge of VMware automation tools and techniques
• Deep experience with the internals of hypervisor fundamentals
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills are essential to impact senior and executive level technical teams, architects, systems administrators, and senior managers
• Ability to work collaboratively with other engineers and senior managers in a team environment in which to share best practices, meet aggressive goals, and meet high quality standards
• A technical leader and expert with demonstrated success on highly complex projects
• Ability to define and drive practices in the technical team and across the organization
• Ability to act as technical expert when working with customer senior technical representatives, including influencing customer requirements
• Ability to understand the customers’ business requirements and relate their requirements to technical solutions
• Experience with VMware vSphere and PowerCLI
• Experience with vCloud Director, VMware Service Manager, vCenter Chargeback
• Experience in infrastructure environment designed to meet Federal Regulatory requirements
• Familiarity and with Unix and/or Linux operating systems
• Knowledge of in guest scripting using Chef and native OS scripting
• Networking knowledge of ethernet, IP, DNS and NIS associated daemons and architectures including hubs, repeaters, bridges, routers, and switches
