What You'll Do
John Deere Power Systems, located in Waterloo, IA is seeking a Senior Performance Analyst (Model Based Development) to
help realize Model-Based Product Development in Engine Engineering by
implementing the Virtual Performance & Emissions Development
process.
In addition, you will:
- Help drive initiatives for Model-Based Performance & Emissions Development
- Develop advanced model capabilities, methodologies, processes and tools
- Develop advanced statistical DOE's and models for combustion tests and simulations
- Conduct performance analysis simulations and optimization tasks
- Proactively work with performance leads and engineers responsible for testing to pilot and implement processes that will realize Model-Based Performance & Emissions Development
- Assist Engine Performance Analyst Lead with Model-Based Performance & Emissions Development activities
- Participate in deploying analysis throughout engine engineering
- Participate in the development of repository-grade models for engines
- Utilize experience and expertise in specialized topics within engine performance
- Informally coach less experienced Performance Analysts
- Lead a relevant Community of Practice or Forum in the area of Model-Based Development
What It Takes
We need an excellent communicator, both verbal and written, who
thrives on solving problems and working in a team environment. Ideally,
you will have a degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
experience in a related career field. In addition, we require:
- Five years of industry experience in engine performance or three years of industry experience and a relevant advanced degree
- Strong background in Thermo-fluids
- Comprehensive user experience with GT-Power (and GT-Suite in general)
- Excellent computer skills (including use of tools such as Matlab, etc.)
- Excellent communication and team skills
- Demonstrated ability to influence without authority
A strong candidate will also have:
- Expert knowledge of GT-Power (and GT-Suite in general)
- A strong background in heavy-duty diesel engines
- A Master’s of Science Degree in an engineering discipline preferred
