The Position: This position provides packaging development support to RD&E Global Design To Value. Principle Accountabilities: • Use value engineering to research and evaluate new and existing packaging materials, forms, and technologies towards the development of optimized, consumer valued, improved sustainability, and cost effective packaging. • Evaluate and present recommendations to optimize packaging components with the end result of providing greater value to the consumer and improving delivered profit to SCJ. • Participate in the development and implementation of new innovative analytical benchmarking and packaging design tools to facilitate packaging development efforts. • Design, coordinate, and complete performance and compatibility testing in support of packaging component changes. • Execute domestic and global packaging development projects by creating and managing effective and efficient project timelines and related success criteria to realize on-time project completion dates. • Develop/update packaging specifications and coordinate product recipe creation/maintenance via SAP PLM. • Gain knowledge in technical and project management areas to grow breadth and depth of related skills. Basic Requirements: • Strong technical expertise in a minimum of two, and a working knowledge of other packaging related disciplines; such as materials, dispensing systems, aerosols, flexible films, plastic parts and related molding techniques. • Experience and technical competency in primary, secondary and tertiary packaging design and qualification (e.g. product/environment compatibility, performance and distribution testing, manufacturing qualification). • Demonstrated analysis and problem-solving abilities. • Ability to progress multiple projects concurrently. Project Management experience is desirable. • Knowledge of consumer testing techniques and execution of appropriate studies to evaluate product performance and gain consumer insights during use. • Strong oral/written communication skills, with ability to communicate concisely to all levels within the organization. • Strong leadership and influencing skills. Demonstrated ability to work cross functionally and effectively with teams to set realistic goals and timelines. • A minimum of a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Engineering (Packaging, Mechanical, or Materials) and five years of related industry experience.
